Mezzo-soprano

Briana Elyse Hunter’s previous credits include Carmen (Carmen), Cendrillon (Cendrillon), Die Fledermaus (Ida/Prince Orlofsky), Iolantha (Laura), Summer and Smoke (Rosa Gonzales), and Ragtime (Sarah). She has worked under the direction of The Royal Shakespeare Company as both actress and vocal soloist in an original production For Every Passion Something that premiered at the Fringe Festival in Scotland. In addition to being awarded 2nd Alternate in MSM's Eisenberg-Fried Concerto Competition, she was a semi-finalist in Opera Theater Pittsburgh's Mildred Miller Competition, and a 2014 recipient of the Lys Symonette award in the KWF’s Lotte Lenya Competition. She has been on the rosters of I SING BEIJING, Sarasota Opera, and Music Academy of the West. In 2015 she will play Mercedes in Knoxville Opera’s production of Carmen, return to the title role with Opera in the Heights in Texas, and join Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Artist in the summer.
