From Carmen, the woman who refused to bend to the demands of society and men, to Isabella who saves the day and her lover, women in opera have been pushing gender roles for centuries. Hosted by MusicTalks, join us for an evening celebrating these wonder women of opera performed by the founders of women-run company, Bare Opera, mezzo-soprano Kirsten Scott and pianist Laetitia Ruccolo, and special guest cellist Laura Metcalf. With arias by Rossini, Mozart, Bizet and many more, this evening will showcase the ways women in opera have powerfully propelled their stories, commanded the stage, and challenged societal norms.
